The first quarter of 2025 brought some big improvements to the Rescale platform. We’ve been working hard to make our customers’ platform experience better, bringing them new capabilities and making everything run faster and reliably.  This overview covers the main products, features, and improvements that Rescale customers can now use to power their HPC and AI workflows. Many of these additions focus on Rescale Compute capabilities to strengthen the platform foundation for new Rescale Data and Rescale AI products to be announced later in 2025. 

Rescale Software Publisher: Democratizing Software Deployment

Rescale Software Publisher is now generally available to all customers, providing an easy and integrated way to self-publish software on the Rescale platform. This empowers users to bring any custom, proprietary, or open-source software to Rescale’s HPC cloud platform, eliminating the complexities associated with cloud infrastructure management.  

Key Benefits and Features

• Usability Improvements: The user interface has been optimized with improved tile navigation for viewing, searching, and creating new software versions.
• Visibility of Disk Space Utilization: Administrators gain enhanced visibility of disk space utilization for all published software versions.  
• Enhanced Security: All user-published software undergoes security scanning before publishing, adding an extra layer of proactive security.  
• Flexible Licensing Models: Rescale Software Publisher supports per-individual workspace licensing or organization-level licensing with unlimited workspace use.  
• HPC Support Services: Customers who purchase Software Publisher also receive ten hours of expert HPC support services to assist with building, testing, and publishing customer software.  

Addressing the Diversity and Complexity of HPC and AI Software

The availability of Rescale Software Publisher addresses the growing complexity of managing HPC software in the cloud. Traditionally, HPC software administration has been manual, fragmented, and resource-intensive, posing challenges to cloud adoption. Rescale Software Publisher streamlines this process with:  

• Simple, Self-Service Publishing: Administrators, power users, and developers can self-deploy HPC software, improving access to any specialized software and eliminating deployment bottlenecks. 
• Portability Across Clouds: Software can be published once and run anywhere, independent of specific infrastructure or operating systems.   
• Enterprise-Grade Security: Rescale automates security, networking, and compliance, ensuring self-published software remains private and secure.  
• On-Prem Licensing Integration: Organizations can leverage existing license servers for cloud-based software access, maintaining their current licensing models.  
• Unified Software Administration: Published software is integrated into the Rescale Software Catalog, providing centralized visibility and management.  
• AI-Enhanced Method Development: Rescale Software Publisher supports the development, deployment, and fine-tuning of AI-enhanced simulation methods, ensuring reproducibility and consistency.

Billing & Cost Management: Enhanced Usability and Accessibility

Rescale has introduced several enhancements to its billing and cost management features, focused on improving usability, performance, and data accessibility.  

Key Updates

• 3-Year Look-Back Window: Users can now access and analyze historical billing information over an extended period with the new 3-year look-back window to improve planning and budget allocations.  
• Usability Improvements:
  
  • Improved Date Picker: The date picker on the Billing Summary page has been enhanced for more efficient date selection.  
  • Faster Page Load Speeds: The Billing Summary page now loads queried data up to 10x faster.  
  • Faster Report Downloads: Billing CSV downloads are now completed 2x faster
  • Background CSV Downloads: Billing CSVs can be downloaded in background tabs, allowing users to continue working without interruption.  
• API for CSV Downloads: A new API enables secure and automated downloading of billing CSV files using token authentication at the organization, workspace, member, or project level. This facilitates automated and scalable Rescale usage reporting.  
• Deposit Consumption Report CSV: Customers can download deposit-specific consumption reports, detailing deposit usage by month, workspace, user, and charge type.  
• Deposit IDs: Deposit IDs are now displayed on the deposits page, along with deposit consumption notifications, for easier deposit identification and management.

Platform Reliability and Performance Enhancements

Rescale remains committed to providing a reliable and high-performance computing platform. Q1 includes improvements to storage and license management.

High-Performance Storage Reliability

For customers using high performance storage (HPS) for fast, persistent access to their data, Rescale has made significant investments in reliability to achieve 100% start up and completion success for thousands of HPS devices used within Q1. To achieve this, Rescale product and engineering teams rolled out several enhancements including: 

• Device start up requeueing to handle any initial launch errors with additional guardrails to keep walltimes under 365 days (calculated from the cluster start). 
• Automatic and manual extensions for storage size to ensure devices reliably expand as storage requirements grow.
• Support-side monitoring to ensure all active HPS devices are stable and performant as job complexity increases.

Software License Services Reliability and Performance

Rescale has also made several updates to Company License Proxies (CLPs), used for managing application licenses, with new expanded capacity for licensing network traffic, new auto-recovery features, expanded health checks, and enhanced monitoring.  These enhancements improve the reliability, scalability, and control for managing access to on-premises license servers from cloud-based HPC workloads. These updates also bring advanced features and extended support on Rescale’s high-compliance FedRAMP platform, ensuring optimal license utilization and robust performance across a wide range of applications.  

Key updates to Company License Proxies include:

• Expanded Capacity: Larger capacity configurations deliver up to a 10x improvement in license network traffic management, enabling users to handle high-demand workloads with ease.  
• Auto-Recovery: Enhanced self-recovery features automatically restore CLPs from unresponsive states, ensuring minimal disruption to workflows.  
• Improved Health Checks: Real-time health checks provide greater visibility, enabling quick identification and resolution of potential issues.  
• Enhanced License Caching: Optimized caching reduces traffic loads and improves response times, ensuring faster access to essential license resources.  
• Real-Time Monitoring: Improved monitoring and threshold-based alerts for CLP performance, allowing for proactive measures to be taken if CLPs enter an undesirable state.
• Faster Access: Software license page load times in the administrator portal have been significantly reduced to <10 seconds.
