Rescale Release Recap – Q3 2025

Review of New Products, Features, and Enhancements

This past quarter brought several exciting updates to the Rescale digital engineering platform, focusing on how engineers interact with simulation data, perform complex workflows, and harness AI and agents in modeling and simulation. These releases advance Rescale’s integration of cloud high performance computing resources, intelligent data management tools, and applied AI to accelerate product development and R&D. Q3’s releases include a redesigned user interface, enhanced AI capabilities, and expanded platform features that help teams streamline their work while providing new approaches to accelerate modeling and simulation workflows.

Introducing the New Rescale Platform Experience

This year we’ve been developing a redesigned user interface designed to support our expanding digital engineering platform capabilities, and we started rolling it out in Beta in Q3. This UI refresh is designed to make Rescale cleaner and more modern while orienting the experience around the value of the platform’s full capabilities. The new platform experience reflects Rescale’s continued evolution as a platform that integrates compute, data, and AI in new ways that supercharge engineering capabilities, helping companies bring products to market more quickly by enabling engineering and R&D professionals to automate routine IT tasks and focus on developing cutting-edge methods.

Redesigned Navigation and Interface

The updated interface maintains the job-centric workflows that simulation engineers rely on while introducing progressive disclosure to help users discover advanced features. The redesigned navigation structure organizes capabilities around natural engineering workflows, with dedicated top-level sections for Jobs, Workflows, Data, and AI — making it easier for teams to find and adopt new capabilities as their needs grow. The interface uses a hierarchical structure that reflects how users naturally organize their work through Workspaces, projects, and folders, providing a foundation of organization that enterprise teams need for governance and traceability while remaining simple enough for individual users and smaller organizations who prefer streamlined workflows.

Improved Feature Discovery

The new experience provides better contextual access to advanced features, ensuring powerful tools like Rescale Assistant and AI Physics are discoverable within familiar workflows rather than buried in new interfaces. This approach lets engineers focus on solving complex engineering problems rather than learning new interfaces. The platform now surfaces relevant capabilities and introduces users to AI-powered analysis and data intelligence tools in context, preserving quick access to active work while showcasing the broader value of the integrated platform.

Expanded Data and AI Capabilities: Agentic Engineering

In Q3, we also introduced further advancements in AI-powered engineering workflows, led by major investments in Rescale Assistant and the launch of our Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for agentic capabilities.

Rescale Assistant: Conversational Engineering Intelligence, Enhanced

We’ve enhanced Rescale Assistant with new conversational analysis capabilities that change how engineers interact with simulation results. Rescale Assistant now provides more intelligent job summaries, flexible data visualizations, and natural language querying across jobs, studies, and projects – reducing the manual effort required to extract insights from complex simulation data. Engineers can now ask contextual questions about their simulations, compare performance metrics across studies, and generate comprehensive reports through conversational interfaces.

Rescale Assistant’s capabilities now extend to administrative functions as well. Organization administrators can access Rescale Assistant through the admin portal to ask natural language questions about billing, spending patterns, and job analytics. Questions like “What was our total charge last month?” or “How much did we spend on failed jobs?” are answered with detailed analysis and visualizations, reducing the time administrators spend on routine financial reporting and platform usage analysis.

Exploring Agentic Capabilities

A major advancement this quarter is the introduction of our MCP server, marking Rescale’s entry into agentic AI for engineering workflows. This open-source integration enables direct access to Rescale’s Platform API through Claude Desktop and other MCP clients, opening up new ways for engineers to interact with the platform.

Rescale’s MCP server provides comprehensive job management capabilities, including creation, submission, monitoring, and control of jobs and workstations. Users can perform file operations, browse available hardware and software resources, and access detailed job analysis – all through natural language interactions with AI assistants.

Key capabilities include:

  • Automated Job Analysis: Given a job ID, the system provides intelligent analysis with plots and convergence history, even for currently running jobs
  • Workflow Automation: AI-powered definition of JSON structures for complex multi-step processes
  • Context-Aware Assistance: Deep integration with job logs, output files, and system metrics for comprehensive analysis
  • Repeatable Process Capture: Ability to transform ephemeral chat conversations into reusable, shareable workflows

This represents a shift toward agentic workflows where AI assistants can actively execute engineering tasks, not merely summarize information. The system learns from engineering requirements, follows preferred workflows, and can integrate with other AI tools or in-house simulation inference models.Want to explore agentic AI for your engineering workflows? Enhanced Metadata and automation

Rescale Automations also received enhancements, now automatically extracting and associating relevant metadata with simulation jobs across a broader range of software applications. This streamlined approach eliminates manual data handling while ensuring information is properly contextualized for advanced analysis tools and AI-powered insights.

Platform Enhancement Suite: Improved Operations and Administration

We delivered several operational improvements designed to enhance day-to-day platform management and user productivity.

License Hosting Enhancements for Enterprise Administration

Our license hosting services received three improvements that streamline software management for enterprise customers:

Automated License Expiration Notifications: Proactive alerts prevent service interruptions by notifying administrators before vendor licenses expire, enabling smooth renewal processes.

Custom Maintenance Windows: Administrators can now configure when maintenance updates are applied to License Hosts, providing control over downtime and ensuring updates don’t impact critical engineering workflows.

Vendor Daemon Update Control: New options allow administrators to maintain specific vendor daemon versions when automatic upgrades could create compatibility issues with existing engineering workflows. These enhancements provide enterprise-grade administration capabilities that give organizations complete control over their software and licensing environments. Direct Cloud File System Integration

The introduction of direct file upload capabilities to our Cloud File System (CFS) eliminates intermediate steps in data management workflows. Engineers can now upload files directly to CFS for immediate access across workloads and projects, enabling enhanced collaboration through centralized, secure storage.

This capability simplifies simulation workflows by reducing the complexity of file management while improving accessibility across the platform. Files uploaded to CFS are immediately available for use in jobs, workstations, and collaborative analysis – reducing setup time for complex multi-step simulations. Learn more in the release note.

Enhanced Storage Management and Reporting

Storage management received improvements with near real-time usage reporting, updating at least hourly instead of the previous 1-2 day delay. The enhanced Storage and Data Transfer Usage table now supports sorting across all pages and includes improved filtering options for deactivated users.

Additional improvements include:

  • Timestamped Updates: Clear visibility into data freshness with “Last Updated” timestamps
  • Faster CSV Exports: Improved download speeds for usage reports
  • Enhanced Filtering: New options to identify inactive users and track storage trends
  • Proactive Management: Faster updates enable quick corrective action when storage limits are approached

Workspace Deposit Management

New deposit management capabilities provide Organization Administrators with enhanced control over team deployments. Administrators can now assign deposits to both new and existing workspaces directly from the Organization Administration portal, simplifying the process of provisioning new teams with necessary funding.

This feature ensures teams have immediate access to required resources while maintaining administrative oversight and preventing consumption overruns. Deposits can be assigned during workspace creation or added to existing workspaces as organizational needs evolve. Learn more in the release note.
