Rescale announces University Research Grant Competition

research

Rescale (www.rescale.com), through the Rescale University Program (ReUP), has established an engineering and science research grant competition, available to researchers (faculty, staff, and students) at academic institutions across the world. The grants will be awarded in the form of credits towards Rescale’s cloud simulation platform, allowing recipients to conduct compute-heavy analyses much faster than with current systems. Grant amounts are as follows:

First Place $ 2,000 in Rescale credits
Second Place $ 1,000 in Rescale credits
Third Place $ 500 in Rescale credits
All other applicants $ 50 in Rescale credits

The grants will be delivered up-front, in one installment, and are to be used within one semester. As a result, all credits will be awarded on September 16, 2013 and expire on January 17, 2014.
Eligibility
The grant is available to individual researchers, as well as research groups, at accredited universities and research institutions across the world.
Requirements
In order to be eligible for the research grant, each applicant must submit a short research proposal (not to exceed 500 words) for consideration. The proposal must (1) outline the engineering or scientific problem to be solved, (2) detail how the applicant plans to use Rescale, and (3) state what type of simulation software will be used. Proposals are due by September 9 at 5PM PST, and should be sent to reup@rescale.com. Late submissions will not be considered. All winners will be announced on Monday, September 16, 2013.
Once the research had been completed, grant recipients will be required to submit a short case study (between 600 to 1,000 words) for publication by Rescale on the results of their research, including how the research benefited from use of Rescale’s platform.
Timeline
The timeline for the entire process is as follows:

  1. August 7, 2013: Program launch
  2. September 9, 2013: Research proposal submission deadline
  3. September 16, 2013: Winners announced and projects begin
  4. January 17, 2014: Final case study papers due
