Deposits
Overview
Deposits can be used to cover the charges for various products and services on the Rescale platform. A deposit can be added to one or more workspaces and, on request, may also be transferred to other workspaces.
Types of Deposits
Rescale supports several types of deposits:

- Software-only Deposit: Used exclusively for specific software on-demand license charges.
- Platform Deposit: Used exclusively for platform charges.
- Infrastructure Deposit: Used for all charges except software, platform, and professional services (software publishing).
Limiting Deposits to a Project or User
Optionally, deposits can be limited to a specific project or user on request.
Adding or Removing Workspaces to or from Deposits

- Adding Workspaces: Organization admins can add workspaces to a deposit. This can be done by navigating to the Teams > Workspace page, opening the desired workspace’s Edit page (or setup page for new workspaces), and assigning a deposit from the Manage Deposits dropdown. The ASSIGN section displays all active non-zero deposits that can be assigned to the workspace.

- Removing Workspaces: Organization admins have the time-limited ability to remove workspaces from a deposit if the workspace was added to the deposit in the same month. Once a new month starts, the workspace cannot be removed from the deposit. This can be done from the UNASSIGN section in the ‘Manage Deposits’ dropdown.
Deposit Notifications
Customers receive notifications when their deposits are running low. Notifications are sent at 50%, 80%, and 100% consumption levels. These notifications can be disabled from the User Profile > Notifications page.

Tracking Deposit Usage
Customers can track their deposit details, such as issued amount, remaining amount, and expiration date, in the following areas:
- User Profile: Displays deposits for users, workspace admins, and organization admins.
- Workspace Admin Portal: Allows workspace admins to track deposits for all users in their workspace.
- Organization Admin Portal: Allows organization admins to track deposits for all users in their organization.
The following information is available for deposits:

| Compatible Software | (Optional) List of Software this deposit can be used for. Only applies to Software Deposits |
| Original Amount | The original amount for the deposit |
| Total Transferred | The amount of deposit transferred to a different deposit object |
| Amount after Transfer | The amount of deposit after any transfers. Calculated as Original Amount - Total Transferred |
| Remaining | The amount of deposit remaining. Calculated by deducting consumption from the Amount after transfer |
| Expiration Date | Date until which the deposit is valid and can be used to cover consumption on Rescale |
| Workspaces | External ID for the workspace(s) this deposit is available to. Multiple is shown when more than one workspace can use the deposit |
| Exclusive to User | (Optional) The user who can use this deposit |
| Consumption Report | Button to download the Consumption Report for the deposit |
Deposit Consumption Report
Customers can download deposit consumption reports from the workspace or the organization’s deposits page. These reports help customers understand how their deposits are being consumed, including usage trends, renewal needs, and consumption by workspace and user.
The deposit consumption report enables customers to better understand how their deposits are being consumed, unlocking reporting use cases like:
- Deposit consumption by charge type (compute, platform, storage, etc.) to identify usage trends
- Monthly deposit consumption trend to understand their renewal needs
- Multi-workspace deposit consumption by workspace
- Deposit consumption by users

Hiding Deposits from Users
A workspace admin may hide the User Profile Settings > Credits / Deposits page for non-admin users. Navigate to the Policies > Platform Settings page in the workspace admin portal and turn off the highlighted setting.

⚠️ Note that by turning off this setting, a non-admin user will also not be able to:
- See their charges on the User Profile Settings > Charges / Usage page. This page will change to User Profile Settings > Usage, meaning they can only see the usage.
- See the hourly price summary, corean individual processing unit within a multicore processor o... More type prices, or priority options on the Hardware Settings page. The default hardware priority set here will be used for all jobs.
- Access the User Profile Settings > Pricing page.
