Deposits

Overview

Deposits can be used to cover the charges for various products and services on the Rescale platform. A deposit can be added to one or more workspaces and, on request, may also be transferred to other workspaces.

Types of Deposits

Rescale supports several types of deposits:

  1. Rescale Deposit: Used for all non-software charges, including compute, platform, storage, transfer, VPN, license proxy, license host, workstation license, IP address, and select professional services (like software publishing).
  2. Software-only Deposit: Used exclusively for specific software on-demand license charges.
  3. Platform Deposit: Used exclusively for platform charges.
  4. Infrastructure Deposit: Used for all charges except software, platform, and professional services (software publishing).

Limiting Deposits to a Project or User

Optionally, deposits can be limited to a specific project or user on request.

Adding or Removing Workspaces to or from Deposits

Organization admins can manage workspace assignments for deposits:

  • Adding Workspaces: Organization admins can add workspaces to a deposit. This can be done by navigating to the Teams > Workspace page, opening the desired workspace’s Edit page (or setup page for new workspaces), and assigning a deposit from the Manage Deposits dropdown. The ASSIGN section displays all active non-zero deposits that can be assigned to the workspace.

  • Removing Workspaces: Organization admins have the time-limited ability to remove workspaces from a deposit if the workspace was added to the deposit in the same month. Once a new month starts, the workspace cannot be removed from the deposit. This can be done from the UNASSIGN section in the ‘Manage Deposits’ dropdown.

Deposit Notifications

Customers receive notifications when their deposits are running low. Notifications are sent at 50%, 80%, and 100% consumption levels. These notifications can be disabled from the User Profile > Notifications page.

The deposit consumption report enables customers to better understand how their deposits are being consumed, unlocking reporting use cases like:

  1. Deposit consumption by charge type (compute, platform, storage, etc.) to identify usage trends
  2. Monthly deposit consumption trend to understand their renewal needs
  3. Multi-workspace deposit consumption by workspace
  4. Deposit consumption by users

Hiding Deposits from Users

A workspace admin may hide the User Profile Settings > Credits / Deposits page for non-admin users. Navigate to the Policies > Platform Settings page in the workspace admin portal and turn off the highlighted setting.

Hiding Deposits Page

⚠️ Note that by turning off this setting, a non-admin user will also not be able to:

  1. See their charges on the User Profile Settings > Charges / Usage page. This page will change to User Profile Settings > Usage, meaning they can only see the usage.
  2. See the hourly price summary, core type prices, or priority options on the Hardware Settings page. The default hardware priority set here will be used for all jobs.
  3. Access the User Profile Settings > Pricing page.
