Introducing Core Hour Budgets

The Core Hours budget feature enables Rescale admins and users to manage and track compute usage by monitoring the core hours consumed by Jobs, Workstations, and High Performance Storage (HPS) devices. 

Core hour budgets are configured similarly to cost-based budgets. They can be set with specific details such as the target (workspace, group, or member), time period, strict (hard cap), and other parameters.

  • Core hour budgets allow you to track compute usage on Rescale in a cost-neutral manner, allowing teams to set usage limits regardless of the compute resource’s unit price.
  • It is especially helpful in monitoring compute usage where existing computing resources are shared among users and no real-time cost charges are generated, such as

  • Cost and Core hour budgets can be set simultaneously to track usage for the same target in a given period.

Get Started

To create core hour budgets, go to the Budgets page and choose Core Hour as the budgeting unit when creating new budgets. For additional guidance, please refer to the product documentation on creating core hour budgets.
