Introducing Charge Type Budgets

Rescale’s Cost Budgets feature now includes the ability to specify which types of charges to track. This enhancement allows users to create charge-specific budgets to monitor how different types of resources are being consumed on the platform, including Rescale platform usage, computing consumption, and software licensing-related charges.

Highlights

  • What is it? A new Charge Type field has been introduced in the cost budget creation menu to specify the type of charge to be budgeted. Charge type budgets are fully compatible with the cost budget feature.
  • Why use it? Using specific charge types when creating budgets ensures teams have the resources they need and prevents consumption overruns.
  • Charge types supported:
    • All: Covers all types of charges.
    • Software: Covers software on-demand license (ODL) charges for a specified software.
    • Compute: Covers compute and IP address charges.
    • Compute & License: Covers computing, IP address, Rescale platform license, and workstation license charges.

Get Started

To create charge-specific budgets, go to the Budgets page and choose the desired Charge Type option when creating new budgets. For additional guidance, please refer to the product documentation on creating charge type budgets.
