Enhanced User Offboarding Capabilities
Overview
Admins can offboard their users from Rescale, maintaining full control over the deletion of their data and the transfer of any associated objects to a new user. These enhancements provide greater flexibility and autonomy in managing your Rescale workspace, ensuring business continuity and protecting intellectual property when personnel leave an organization.
How User Offboarding Works
Users can be deleted from Workspaces by navigating to Workspace Admin > Teams > Members > Member > Deactivate Member. Once you click on “Deactivate Member”, confirm your selection with one of two options:
- Deactivate the member and delete files: Once you deactivate a member, this member’s data will first be archived and then permanently deleted based on the Workspace file retention period.
- Deactivate the member and transfer files: Once you deactivate and transfer files, this member’s data will be assigned to the chosen target user (aka “Assigned Owner”), and then the member (aka “Original Owner”) will be deactivated. The new “transfer owner” will be able to find all jobs from the offboarded user based on their email and will have the ability to reshare those jobs and delete individual files from the job. Ownership of the transferred files and jobs is always maintained with the offboarded user (original owner), and therefore, the charges for file storage are also generated against the offboarded user.
Data Ownership Transfer
An assigned owner who receives the transferred jobs will receive control over the data from the offboarded user. They can open each job or workstation and download all files, share the transferred job or workstation with other users, delete run files from the transferred job or workstation, and also archive or recover the transferred job or workstation.
Important Considerations: Transferring files and jobs does not support the ability to transfer Performance Profiles or Workflows.
