Hardware Recommendations for Workload Optimization

Overview

Rescale now recommends coretypes to optimize software-hardware configurations and remove the guesswork from job setup. Recommendations are based on Rescale’s own performance benchmarks and hardware pricing data, so instead of comparing a long list of coretypes, you have a clear starting point based on what actually works for your software.

Highlights

During the job setup process, the Hardware Settings will now provide up to three recommendations at the top of the coretype list, labeled by type.

  • Great Value: The most economic option for your workload
  • Well Rounded: A balanced pick when you want strong price-to-performance
  • Optimized for Performance: The hardware that runs your software fastest, based on Rescale’s performance benchmark data
A simulation job is configured with ‘Well-Rounded’ hardware selection to balance speed and cost.

Getting Started

Open a new job, select the software you want to run, and go to the hardware selection step. Recommendations appear automatically based on the software you’ve selected. Hardware recommendations will be initially available in public beta and available to select Rescale customers. Contact your Rescale representative to enable hardware recommendations for your account.

Note: Recommendations are based on generalized benchmarks and are one of many options available for running your software. Not all software will have hardware recommendations if performance benchmarks are unavailable.
