Introducing Studies: A New Way to Manage Simulation Projects
As modeling and simulation projects become more complex, tracking objectives, results, and context across multiple users can be difficult. Rescale’s new Studies feature centralizes and organizes simulations, allowing teams to keep objectives clear, collaborate more easily, and manage their projects efficiently. Studies provide a unified structure for all simulation work, making it easier to maintain focus, eliminate duplicate or wasted work, and ensure valuable insights aren’t lost.
Background – Why We Built Studies
In response to growing requirements in projects, we built the Studies, a new platform construct to ensure all simulations are organized and aligned with overall goals and individual collaborators’ objectives. By grouping related simulations and capturing key metadata, Studies ensure that the full context of each project is preserved, improving efficiency and collaboration across teams. This new structure addresses challenges around separate and often disconnected workflows and data management, enabling teams to work more cohesively.
Key Features of Studies

Studies introduce a multi-level hierarchy (Project > Folder > Study > Jobs > Files) to help teams organize and manage simulations more effectively. - Context Search and Custom Fields:
Capture and search through critical data points with customizable fields and enhanced metadata management. - Improved Collaboration and Sharing:
Teams can easily share insights, comments, and updates directly within a Study, ensuring that context is preserved across projects.

We’ve introduced several enhancements to improve workflows and user experience within the new platform experience:
- Improved Search: Perform deep searches within Study metadata, allowing for faster access to critical information.
- Hierarchy Support: Organize work with a clearer structure through Projects, Folders, Studies, and Jobs.
- Enhanced Navigation: Improvements to page load times and responsiveness ensure a smoother user experience.
- Collapsible Panel and Activity Log: Enjoy a more focused workspace with the option to collapse side panels and track changes with an activity log.
- Tooltips: Added informative tooltips to key icons, providing users with quick guidance for a smoother experience.
- Study API Support: The API now supports shortcodes, allowing for more efficient integration and easier automation of study-related workflows.
- Single Tab Navigation: All actions, such as opening new or existing jobs, now take place in a single tab to streamline navigation and reduce clutter.
- Activity Log: Track changes to status and ownership in real-time with the newly added activity log, ensuring better accountability and visibility.
- Collapsible Left-Hand Panel: Users can now collapse the left-hand panel, providing a more focused and clutter-free workspace.
