Rescale managed firewall service (CNAF) is now generally available

Rescale’s managed firewall service, Compute Network Application Firewall (CNAF), which provides customers an easy and integrated way to manage network traffic within cloud compute environments, is now generally available to all customers.

For enterprise customers who have strict network security requirements, the Rescale CNAF firewall service allows organizations to selectively control network traffic within Rescale compute regions for job and workstation activity.   Common use cases for adopting CNAF as a compute firewall include preventing unauthorized network connections to the internet, and to protect against the risk of data exfiltration.

Benefits of using Rescale’s managed firewall service include:

  1. Platform Integration – Rescale’s managed CNAF firewall service is fully integrated into the product platform and is maintained and supported by Rescale.
  2. Easy To Manage – No specialized IT or network administration skills are required to provision or manage the CNAF service.  Rescale administrators have access to a friendly user interface for updating network allowlist entries for IP and domain name values. 
  3. Multiple CSP Support – Control network traffic in compute regions for AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  4. High Availability – Every CNAF is configured with a backup failover server, and the managed firewall service is monitored 24×7.
  5. Scalable Management – Multiple CNAFs can be viewed and managed from one central location in the administration portal.  Network settings are synchronized across multiple CNAFs automatically to ensure consistent firewall rules are reliably deployed.

Licensing and Packaging

Rescale’s CNAF service is sold by the number of compute regions for deployment.  Installation and configuration services to provision new CNAFs are included with new purchases.  Optional premium services are offered for customers with larger complex environments who require additional assistance.   Bundled pricing is offered for new purchase transactions that include both Rescale’s managed VPN and firewall service.
