Smarter Job Attachments for Continuous Monitoring from Workstation
Overview
Attaching running jobs to a workstation for live monitoring previously required careful manual coordination to ensure they were in the same location. Previously, a location mismatch could prevent job-to-workstation connections, resulting in wasted resources and delayed outcomes. We’ve automated the hardware filtration mechanism, enabling a smarter job attachment process that eliminates this problem by intelligently guiding your setup to guarantee colocation for a seamless monitoring experience.

- What is it? An enhancement to the workstation setup process. When you attach a running job, Rescale now automatically enforces colocation by filtering hardware choices to ensure a direct connection is possible.
- Why use it? This update removes the guesswork and risk of a misconfigured monitoring session. It prevents connection errors and streamlines your workflow, so you can confidently monitor simulations.
- How is it used? Simply use the familiar Attachments tab during workstation setup. The platform now automatically handles colocation of jobs and workstations by filtering hardware options.

- Intelligent Job Filtering: When you select your first running job, the system sets its location as the requirement for any other jobs you wish to attach. Incompatible jobs are automatically greyed out, ensuring all selected jobs can be monitored together.
- Automatic Hardware Filtering: The hardware options for the new workstation are then dynamically filtered to show only those compatible with the selected job’s location, guaranteeing a successful connection.
- Attaching Jobs to a Running Workstation
- Context-Aware Job Selection: When you attach more jobs to an already running workstation, the attachments window intelligently displays only those jobs that are in proximity and can be successfully connected. All other jobs are greyed out, simplifying the selection process.
Getting Started
- During workstation setup, navigate to the Attachments tab as you normally would.
- Select the running job(s) you wish to monitor.
- When you return to the Hardware tab, you’ll see the list has been automatically filtered to compatible options.
- Launch your workstation. It is now guaranteed to be able to connect to and monitor your selected job(s).
