Rescale Workflows provide a visual canvas for building reusable Workflow Templates that automate multi-step simulation processes, integrating jobs, workstations, storage, and agents. This system eliminates the need for brittle custom scripts by offering a structured, intuitive, and auditable way to manage complex pre- and post-processing, validation, and troubleshooting.

Rescale Workflows are a new way to build, run, and monitor multi-step simulation processes on the Rescale platform. It provides a visual canvas to configure jobs, workstations, storage, and agents into reusable templates that automate complex pre‑ and post‑processing, job configuration management, and agent integration. 

Highlights

What is it?

A Workflow Template is a directed acyclic graph (DAG) of nodes that run actions on the Rescale platform. Nodes can represent jobs, workstations, storage devices, decision logic, and agents, all linked together through well-defined inputs, outputs, and parameters.

Rescale Workflows include:

  • A drag‑and‑drop canvas to compose and configure workflow templates
  • A guided experience to provide inputs and launch and monitor workflow runs based on a shared template 
  • Managed data transfer between nodes via shared storage, so all processes use the same data efficiently
  • Integration with the Rescale Assistant and pre‑built agents for validation and troubleshooting

Why did we build it? Organizations need a way to automate multi-step simulation pipelines, without having to maintain brittle custom scripts. Workflows integrates agents into engineering processes in a structured, intuitive, and auditable way. 

How is it used? 

  • Build the workflow template by adding and configuring Job, Workstation, Storage Device, Decision and Agent nodes. Define the input parameters required to run the workflow, and connect these parameters to node configurations.
  • Run the workflow template by specifying the required input parameters, and monitor the progress of all workflow nodes
  • Using natural language, the Rescale Assistant can help with building workflow templates and submitting workflow runs
