Project collaboration can be very time-consuming, and it’s often a difficult task to distribute assignments to colleagues. When engineers and scientists spend their time collecting and sharing files back and forth, it reduces the time they could spend on product development. This can disrupt project deadlines and lead to less than optimal designs.
Sharing analyses and projects should be simple and efficient. At Rescale, we have been working hard to make this a reality and are proud to announce our Share feature. Sharing enables our customers to give colleagues secure access to any and all simulation data instantly.
When users share jobs with colleagues, the entire simulation is copied to the new user. This includes software selection, hardware configuration, process variables, analysis commands, and processing scripts. All original simulation files are also transferred, adding convenience for the new user.
The Share button automatically appears on the user’s individual job page after a simulation has been saved or run. Users can select the Share feature and enter the email address of the user or users with whom they would like to share their simulation. Users are then notified when the job is successfully shared and the simulation automatically appears in the new user’s account.
New users receive read-only access to the shared simulation, meaning they can view results and download data generated by the original job. If the new user would like to edit or rerun the simulation, they must clone the job. The Clone feature (Introducing Cloning on Rescale) duplicates the entire simulation, allowing the new user to edit and rerun the analysis.
The sharing feature is designed to make the simulation experience more convenient while still maintaining the highest level of security. IT administrators have the ability to grant or deny sharing access to Rescale users at their companies. In addition, they can also monitor the usage of the Sharing feature within any part of their organizations.
The Share feature is a recent addition to Rescale’s platform, and integrated as a method to expediting collaboration between users. Now Rescale users can readily analyze and revise colleagues’ simulations entirely in the cloud.
